Home Again

Back home now. Was at the Oak Place mall, sharing our faith and formed a BibleTalk at 6. Only two people showed up; Erica and her grandma Maria.

Oh and our lesson earlier about the Kingdom was great, really opened my eyes to what it truely is. And that it's not just the church we go to, but a bigger plan designed to bring us all closer to God.

Going to enjoy an event-less night now and get some needed rest.
Quick lunch break then back to class! Awesome lesson on what The Kingdom of God truely is.

Intense Debate

Just had a hardcore debate on if Women should or should not preach.

Here's some of the verses tossed around:

Gen 21:12
Judges 4:4-5
Acts 21:9
Romans 16:1-2
1 Cor 11:2-16
Gal 3:26
1 Cor 14:34
1 Cor 12:11
1Cor 12:4-6
1 Tim 2:11
Luke 24
Titus 2:3-4
Gal 3:10
1 Peter 3
Job 5:17

Ultimately, the girls had a stronger argument against women preaching, but it was close.

Now getting ready for a lesson by Jeremy Leffler on The Kingdom!

Special Guest Steve Heineken, Carl & Stephanie Sullivan!

Beginning Day Four...

Today we're having a debate between guys and girls. Guys get to say why women should preach, while girls have to say why they should not. Using the Bible and other research gets points.

We also will have a BibleTalk later today at 6pm in the Orland Place Starbuck's.

Yesterday Dave Pocta tought us how to form an effective message or devotional and how to understand and utilize the word for what it is. He showed us some very dramatic paintings of old testament scenes set to awesome music tracks and also some funny Simpson clips on how not to preach. Later, Anthony Testa and his wife talked to us about humility and how if we want to be trained, we need to fight for it. He used several inspiring movie clips from Coach Carter, Facing the Giants, and Batman Begins. Then we went to Orland Park to reach out to 15 people per person (so a 4 man team gets about 60 people) and then went to help our host family help another family pack & move. Gary, the teen minister, drove us home and we had a great talk on how to inspire teen and campus guys to be more open.

Also was given my speaking assignment yesterday: Luke Penner and I will be presenting a message on Humility to the Indiana COC. Pray for my nervous heart...

Oh, and since part of Pocta's lesson was on how to relate the ebb and flow of Bible narratives to music, I cant get the song Indestructible by Disturbed out of my head...
